SCBWI Bologna is thrilled to be able to offer the expertise of Martha Rago Executive Creative Director for Random House/Golden Books Young Readers Group for individual portfolio critiques.
The critques are available to SCBWI members and non-members alike. Each review will be for 15 minutes and only one time slot is available for each registrant. Critques are available between 11 am and 1 pm on Monday and Tuesday and from 1 – 2 pm on Wednesday.
To book a critque, please select a day and time from the available times remaining and then pay here. You will receive a confirmation email upon payment. Participants are to bring their portfolio, either physical, or on iPad or their own computer AND the work must be loaded onto your computer, and NOT dependent on wifi.

Named the Executive Creative Director for Random House/Golden Books Young Readers Group in November of 2015, Martha came to Random House just a few month earlier to oversee their growing trade list of picture books, YA, middle grade and chapter books. She is now overseeing all of Random House Children's Book art department, encompassing Knopf, Crown, Delacorte imprints along with Random House trade, licensing and brands.
Martha has had a long career as designer and art director in children's books. Previously the Associate Creative Director at HarperCollins, and Creative Director at Henry Holt, Martha has worked with many established illustrators in her career, such as Eric Carle, Tomie dePaola, Peter McCarty, Ed Young, Mo Willems, Floyd Cooper, Peter Sis, Dan Yaccarino, Susan Jeffers, Pat Cummings, and Kadir Nelson. She loves to discover and support new talent as well, and in this past year has worked with illustrators Mike Curato, Julia Denos, Debbie Ohi, Teagan White, Joseph Keufler, and Suzanne Kaufman, to name a few.
